When I made this Apple Cinnamon Turnover recipe originally, it was a *truly perfect* fall day. The smell of these alone is enough to help you ease into the season changes. I believe there are very few things that smell better than apples and cinnamon baking in the oven. My favorite part about this dessert is that it is incredibly simple and quick but looks like it’d be more labor intensive than it is – it’s a dinner party HACK.
The ingredients in this are very minimal – Puff pastry, apples, cinnamon, and honey. The ice cream is optional but highly recommended, obviously. If you omit the ice cream however, it could be a perfect pastry for a breakfast item, unless ice cream for breakfast is your vibe, than do your thing.

I used these puff pastry sheets. I believe they come frozen, so it is key to let these thaw completely at room temperature before unrolling. If they are still frozen when you try to lay them out, they will break. I used the sheets and a pizza roller to cut them into about 4 x 3 inch rectangles. It was giving ‘adult toaster strudel’ – If you know, you know.
Yes! You could use a lot of different fruits in place of apples – pears, peaches, apricots, etc. Even some mashed berries like a raspberry or blackberry would be delicious! I just love the apple because it screams fall and winter to me. I also think the pairing of apples & cinnamon is one of the top flavor combinations and smells. BUT, feel free to absolutely play around with different fruits with this. Afterall, getting creative with recipes is the best part about cooking!
As always, leave a comment if you make this recipe or if you switch up any of the ingredients and make it your own <3 xoxo
